What is myHawaii?

myHawaii aims to provide a coherent, equitable, and single secure access portal for you to access critical State services related to your health, business, and personal needs. It’s built from the ground up to meet you where you are to access Hawaii state and local government services and become your single entry point to conducting business with the State of Hawaii. It’s not everywhere yet; but our goal is to integrate with as many State government service portals as possible.

Digital Portal for Our Future
In 2018, the myHawaii initiative evolved out of a deliberate service created to address a gap for a common identity login process that could support multifactor authentication to protect access to citizen health data. As we collectively trudged through the Covid-19 global pandemic, Hawaii began to understand we needed more digital doorways to access Hawaii services and it became quite clear that our current portals needed a modernized experience for our citizens. These principles informed our strategy to create the myHawaii service: to provide a coherent, safe, and simple portal to access state services here in Hawaii. We’ve enhanced the login experience to get you access to the services you need as quickly and securely as possible.
Ease of Use
myHawaii plans to provide a more unified customer experience by presenting a single login point of entry for all connected State government services. Access your unique login or use the Google sign-in button to connect your already secured Google account to access all your services through a single identity. By providing this centralized point of entry to Hawaii state and local services, we reduce the complexity of managing multiple login credentials and saving you time removing extra sign-up activities for new services.
Enhanced Security
myHawaii modernizes your access using industry leading security algorithms, reduces the attack surface for account compromise by increasing the password minimum character length, and provides you the ability to protect your account with multifactor authentication (MFA). This can be accomplished by either using common authentication mobile apps (ex. Microsoft or Google Authenticator) or by providing a phone number for SMS text or voice number one-time passcodes (OTP).
You’ll only be prompted for MFA on applications that touch your personal data or to confirm it’s you if possible fraudulent access is suspected – so you can be sure only you are accessing your account. Future planned security features include: webAuthN-compatible logins (ex. passkeys), identity verification that integrates common IDV accounts (ex. ID.me, Login.gov, etc.) and more.
Just Getting Started
This is just the beginning. We’re building myHawaii as a service that will grow with our community. We’re actively working with state departments from all branches of our government, cities, and counties to bring those critical services to you in the most accessible, equitable and convenient way possible. The myHawaii platform and experience will evolve to meet our needs and we’re excited to serve our citizens today as well as tomorrow.
